Mixtape Review: Mac Millers “Macadelic”

Since the announcement of his new mixtape, “Macadelic”, I’ve been excited to hear Mac Miller. It would be the first that we heard from him since his first album “Blue Slide Park”. The excitement would build up more when I saw the track listing for the mixtape. Features from Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne. I was pleasantly surprised for those and now couldn’t wait to hear the mixtape.

Unfortunately, “Macadelic” let me down.

It’s really my fault though. “Macadelic” is everything that  you would expect from Mac Miller. Fast beats and good flow where he raps about smoking weed, getting money and bitches. And Mac does that great. With that being said though, it gets old quickly.

There’s plenty of good songs on the mixtape. I liked Loud and Fuck Em All specifically. As a whole though, the mixtape is a lot of the same stuff and even the songs I like aren’t anything special.

Like I said earlier, it’s nothing that you wouldn’t expect from Mac. You know what you’re getting. He knows what he’s doing and he does it well but when you listen to the mixtape as a whole is gets boring after a while when every song sounds the same. “Macadelic” isn’t on the level of most of his other work though, and hopefully his next album with Rostrum Records will be an improvement on this.

Best song: Loud
Mixtape Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
