NFL changes Overtime, more rules

When the NFL changed the overtime rules last year so that the playoffs would allow both teams a shot if one kicked a field goal, people wanted to see the rule apply to the regular season as well.

Today we now know that it will happen. For all games now the rule will apply and both teams will get a chance to get the ball in overtime if the first team scores a field goal. It isn’t the college football system, but it’s still an improvement.

The other big change that the NFL made was that now all turnovers will be reviewed in the booth. Last year, the NFL made it so that all touchdowns are reviewed in the booth but the turnovers may be taking it too far. I don’t have a real problem with it, although it almost completely takes away the challenge flag.

A final change that hasn’t been made just yet is the change to the NFL trade deadline. The vote on it has been pushed back until May, but the proposal is for the trade deadline to move from Week 6 to Week 8. I think it’ll get passed and for the better.
