Album Review: Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded by Nicki Minaj

When Nicki Minaj burst onto the scene, she did it mostly on features with her fellow Young Money partners. She made her name known last year with Super Bass, her biggest hit off Pink Friday.

The first time I heard her was on Bottoms Up with Trey Songz. I noticed her distinct accent and annoying voice. Those are still here today and won’t go away.

While Pink Friday wasn’t awful, I’m not a fan of Nicki Minaj. Honestly leading up to this album I wasn’t looking forward to it because of the bad singles that had already come off of it. It was painful listening to most of this album, and the only thing that saved it from being half a star rating were the guest features ranging from the usual Lil Wayne and Drake to Nas and 2 Chainz.

It started off with Roman Holiday and I knew I wasn’t going to enjoy this. As bad as Nicki Minaj is, her alter ego Roman is even worse. She’s trying to do her best Eminem impression, of course with his famous alter ego Slim Shady, but it fails horribly. She should absolutely trash the Roman personality and forget this ever happened. It’s a disaster.

If you want to enjoy an album, I suggest not listening to this. The annoying accent and high pitched voice along with the awful lyrics should be enough to turn anybody away. The only thing that saved this from being half a star is the guest features. It’s my least favorite piece of work that I’ve listened to this year, but it’s not that shocking from Nicki Minaj. Uh, I mean Roman.

Album Grade: 1 out of 5 stars
Best Song: Champion ft Nas, Drake and Young Jeezy
