Should the Giants make a draft day trade with Osi Umenyiora?

Another offseason, another Osi Umenyiora contract dispute in New York. For the past couple of years Osi has asked for a new contract and even briefly held out last year when he didn’t get one from the Giants. When the Giants drafted Jason Pierre-Paul though, Osi became expendable.

While the Giants “NASCAR” package with Osi, Justin Tuck and JPP is very effective it also costs a lot of money if Osi were to get a new contract. His contract will be up at the end of the season and he says he may hold out if he doesn’t get a new contract, so why not trade him now and get something back?

The Giants tried shopping him for a first round pick last year and couldn’t get a deal for it. I doubt they could turn him into a first rounder this year especially with them picking at #32. Who knows though. Even if they can’t get into the first round, they could get a package of picks for him.

When the Giants get to radio city music hall today for the draft, they should pick up their phone and try and work out a trade for Osi Umenyiora. I’m sure there’ll be teams listening.
