Aaron Hernandez gets new contract, donates money to Myra Kraft foundation

In the offseason, there was a lot of attention on a certain New England Patriots TE. Rob Gronkowski had taken the league by storm and was making headlines in other ways off the field. He got a new contract, and now his fellow TE in New England also signed a new contract.

The Patriots signed Aaron Hernandez to a new 5 year, $40 million contract today to sure up their TE duo for the future. Hernandez getting that contract is great for him and the Pats, but what he did with some of that money is an even better story.

Hernandez decided after signing the contract that he would make a $50,000 donation to the Myra Kraft foundation, named after Pats owner Robert Krafts wife who passed away last year. Hernandez has said that he made the donation to thank Kraft for drafting him and having faith in him, and to pay respect for re-negotiating his contract before it expired.
